Beast. The Backbone of Night

The civilization of the type 0 use the fossil fuel, can’t control the nature phenomena, begin the exploration of its star system. The civilization of the type I controls the energy  resources of its planet, can control the weather and earthquakes, terminated the exploration of its star system. The civilization of the type II controls the energy of its star and explores it, this civilization colonized its star system. The civilization of the type III controls the energy of the whole galaxy, can use the billions of stars as a fuel source, and due to this can manipulate the space–time continuum.

The transition from one type of civilization to another takes 1000 to 10 000 years. And it has some obstacles:

1) lack of the social mature during the overcome of the uranium barrier (the discovery of the nuclear energy against the social disunity and instability lead to self-destruction in a nuclear war)

2) depletion of the energetic resources, the pollution of the ecosystem and the ecological collapse.

3) next ice age or astronomical cataclysm (the collision with cosmic object, close supernova flare).

4) destruction of the civilization of lower type by more advanced civilization.

The temporal «window» for setting contact with another existing civilization before it will be gone is vanishingly small.
